Today we join the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in celebrating their 10th Anniversary of #GirlsinICT Day. This day is tailored to build awareness about the digital gender divide and encourage more girls and young women to actively pursue careers in Information and communication technologies. The theme for this year is, Connected Girls, Creating a Brighter Future,#GirlsinICT.

Power, we are pleased to invite women and girls on this special occasion to participate in a call for a proposal wiring competition for Digital Financial Inclusion which we are promoting under hashtag #SheTechsCharge.Digital financial inclusion in Africa has been on the highlights lately as a crucial element to help close gender inequality. Since the advent of Covid-19, recent research suggests that digital financial inclusion could narrow these inequalities. Despite a remarkable growth in financial inclusion rates in Africa, the gender gap remains. Studies have shown how men and women engage in financial services differently in Africa, participants will be required to provide solutions on how to close the Gender Gap in Digital Financial Services.
The objective of the proposal writing competition is to allow an opportunity for women and girls to demonstrate and improve their knowledge and skills in technology, finance, and the gender gap
The theme of the proposal writing is – Digital Financial Inclusion in Africa: Closing the Gender Gap in Financial Services in Africa.
Award: 1st prize: $500.
