What Are We Looking For?

  • Current resident of an African country.
  • An individual (at least 18 years of age), or a representative of an NGO or social enterprise based in Africa.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting activities supporting women and girls in computer science or STEM fields.
  • Commitment to developing and contributing to a virtual community supporting women and girls initiatives.

What do we offer?

The Seed Fund Impact Award

A unique award for the most outstanding winning initiative to start or expand their capacity. 3 Winners:

  • 1st receives 5,000USD
  • 2nd and 3rd receive 1,000USD each

Media Package

The 1st Winner will get a media package worth 1000USD. All those who set an example and go above and beyond to display true excellence will be appreciated.

Expert Coaching

Access to Expert Coaching and Mentorship from DCA Digital Academy experts to produce tangible enhancement in terms of career development and talent mobility

DCA Academy Boot Camp Accelerator

6 Weeks of tailored support and training for scaling to enable them successfully launch or expand their initiatives to increase their digital opportunities in the tech related inventions, training and leadership roles.

Comprehensive Networking

Unlimited access to the Fempower Digital Platform comprising of former winners and alumni as well as other girls and women community members. They will facilitate meetups and symposiums, capacity building support and advisory and market linkages of the members and participants to network and exchange ideas.

Applications

  • Application must be submitted in English
  • Demonstrate previous experience conducting activities supporting women and girls in computer science or STEM fields.
  • Proposed projects MUST have tangible impact for women and girls in computer science and/or STEM-related fields.
  • Demonstrate leadership potential — references required for those applying for leadership funds.

Eligible Projects

Preference given to projects targeting underserved populations, taking a collaborative approach, with high growth potential and innovative use of technology. Examples include:

  • Computer science workshops and training for women and girls
  • Early incubation of female tech entrepreneurs
  • Artificial Intelligence and app development projects
  • Hackathons and coding boot camps for girls

  1. Please cite sources if you have used someone else’s work. Plagiarizing will result in automatic disqualification.
  2. Keep your proposal Short:. A maximum of 4 pages Text only or 6 Pages if it includes images.
  3. Keep it simple :An easy to understand proposal makes for a happy judge.
  4. Be practical: Give solutions that are out of the box that can be implemented fast and are scalable.
  5. One submission per person
