Hey,
This month of May is for Mothers. On the 9th just yesterday, we celebrated International Mothers Day. The world came together and celebrated the supreme sacrifices made by mothers, and the impact of mothers on society.
Mothers have always been known as multitasking heroines. They run the affairs of the home to ensure everyone is taken care of and they have seemed to effortlessly juggle all those duties with their careers.
The pandemic forced many to convert that demanding home into a workplace as teleworking became a way of life.
Here at FemPower we celebrate and appreciate all the mothers out there and recognize the impact of their role that goes far beyond their own families.
Motherhood and Leadership
There are so many women who are changing the world. It also just so happens that some of them are mothers who also have to juggle their families while navigating the high-stakes world around them. This month we recognize the following ancestral women who were committed to affirming the right to exist and creating societies that are more just, while simultaneously advancing the rights of women long before, during, and after the term feminism came into existence.
Ellen Sirleaf, Mother of Liberia
As Africa’s first democratically-elected female head of state, she has led Liberia through reconciliation and recovery following the nation’s decade-long civil war, as well as the Ebola Crisis, winning international acclaim for achieving economic, social, and political change.
