App Developer, Ms. Juliet Awuor

(a.) General experience with Miss.Africa sponsored, eMobilis training basing a bias on women in tech in Kenya & how your digital skills were enhanced.

The whole experience was phenomenal and given the same chance again I would take it wholeheartedly.

The Miss.Africa Seed Fund Sponsorship enabled me attain one of my dream and greatest goal in my ICT career. For the longest time while in campus and after completion, I always wanted to pursue the Mobile App Development program but due to some financial challenges I couldn’t.

When I came across the paid  Mobile App Development training, I honestly took it as a God given chance and for that I will forever be grateful to the Miss.Africa Seed Fund team.

(b.) How the Miss.Africa sponsored, eMobilis Training enhanced your perceptions of the involvement of Women in Technology?

Generally, I was fascinated by the massive turn-out of ladies to the program. More so by the impressive ideas that we shared during the whole training. Its at that moment that I noted the great talent and input that ladies have to offer to the technology industry at large.

(c.) Give us a professional instance during the training that remains a landmark in your career profession.

Well, for the first time, I got prospect employers reaching out to me and inquiring more about me when they heard of my Mobile Technology ideas and application. For me, that was a huge milestone and it encouraged me to sharpen my skills and be more aggressive in the industry

(d.) Outline your take on the future of women technology in Africa/Globally? And a message to other girls who would want to venture into ICT Careers.

The future is bright, there’s a lot out there that needs to be changed. Given the impeccable skills and ideas that Ladies have, we have a lot to offer.

Miss.Africa Voices is a regular online journal that presents women in tech experiences, opinions and observations. These stories come from DotConnectAfrica Internship Alumni and other Women who are leading the tech-preneurship fronts in their own ecosystems. The Miss.Africa Voices also serves to encourage more girls & women to get involved in STEM careers through our Miss.Africa Digital Program.
